I really loved this movie…lots of twists and turns and suspense. Decent amount of horror, not too much gore…overall I definitely recommend it!
The movie is mainly about two sisters Anna and Alex (in fact, it is based on a Korean movie called Tale of Two Sisters), set in Canada in a beautiful house on the shore. It’s been 10 months since their sick, bedridden mother has died in a tragic fire. Anna is leaving a psychiatric facility she’s been staying in following a suicide attempt in the aftermath of the fire, but when she gets home, things have changed. Her father is now pre-engaged to her mother’s caregiver (why do the old men in movies always get the young, beautiful nanny or nurse or whatever? Oh, yeah, because they’re rich).
So the question is, how did the mother die…was the evil nurse-lady the one? Anna has very creepy visions/dreams (great special effects here) which lead her to believe this was the case, and that she and Alex must prove it and avenge their mother’s death.
That’s all I can mention really without lots of spoiler alerts…so:
- Top Scare: One of Anna’s visions
- Heartbeats: 3 3/4 out of 5
- Gore Factor: 3 1/2 out of 5
- Suspense Factor: 4 out of 5
- Recommended for: 13/14 and up can probably handle this…does have some “intimate” scenes and good scare factor
